A window plant simulation game with a story
When I was in primary school, Tamagotchi captivated me. It felt alive, even as just a pixelated chicken. It challenged what I thought a game could be—a companion, not a constant demand.
I'm making my first game to explore new storytelling methods. This started as a plant simulation but evolved into something more: a desktop pet where you water a plant once daily through a small window. It will get sick, die, and disappear—just like reality.
But there's a story. Through scattered items—letters from an unknown sender, memos from neighbors—you piece together what's happening beyond that window. Just an idle plant and a few objects telling the whole tale.
The plant grows slowly over a month, experiencing real weather from your location via API. Players can gift flowers to each other, and I’m experimenting with a mechanic that allows real-world artifacts to influence the plant’s biological state.
With many growth stages, each shows subtle changes—like noticing a real plant's new leaf overnight. It's all about time.
I'll try to finish by year's end. Check the devlogs.
